Installing XMaps Remote Control

Do I need to install XMaps Remote Control?

XMaps Remote Control is an UnrealTournament web application, which uses both the UT Web Server and XMaps to control your XMaps and server setup. Consequently, it's only useful if you want to remotely manage an UnrealTournament server that's running XMaps.

Minimum Requirements

To use XMaps Remote Control, you need the following:

Using the Umod Installer

Installation

Extract XMapsRC.umod from the file you've downloaded, and run it to install or upgrade XMaps Remote Control. Since it's a web application, there are no ServerPackage entries to set up, but you will need to add XMaps Remote Control to the list of Web Applications that UT supports. Setting up your server to run XMaps Remote Control is described here.

If you just get a File Associations dialog box when you run the umod installer, check out the Installing Mutators section of the Mutators FAQ, which should be able to help.

Upgrading

To upgrade XMaps Remote Control, just run the XMapsRC.umod file from the new version. There are no configuration settings, so there's nothing else to do.

Un-installing

Open Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel, select UnrealTournament and click the Add/Remove button. Check the XMaps Remote Control option in the list presented, then click Next and remove the mod. When you uninstall this way, XMaps Remote Control will still be listed as one of your UT web applications in your server's INI file. This won't cause a problem, but if you want to remove it, simply reverse the changes described here.

Using the Non-umod Archive

Installation

Extract the contents of the archive into your UT directory as described below.

If you extract the non-umod archive into your UT directory, using folder names, the files will be in their correct locations. You will also need to add XMaps Remote Control to the list of Web Applications that UT supports. Setting up your server to run XMaps Remote Control is described here.

Upgrading

To upgrade XMaps Remote Control, just replace the original files with those from the new non-umod archive. There are no configuration settings, so there's nothing else to do.

Un-installing

To un-install, simply remove the XMapsRC.* files from your UT\System directory. You may also want to remove the UT web application settings from your server's INI file; simply reverse the changes described here.
