ABit Page Update, 30th January 1999
This page - which used to cover installation and configuration of the ABit LX6 in some depth - has been rewritten to support some of the most popular ABit motherboards. Just in case there was some information on the old page that you wanted to refer to, you'll find it here.
Each of the sections below contain current and archive BIOS files, which are posted in GWeb space so you don't have to spend all morning waiting for that Taiwan FTP site. I'm also including links to Anandtech's reviews of the boards, which include optimum BIOS settings for all the different bus speeds. I've used these settings on the LX6 and BH6, and they definitely get the best out of the boards. If the document names change (so the links don't work), check out the Anandtech motherboard review index and pick your board from the list.
The most up to date version of ABit's home page (in English) is hosted in Taiwan, but the fastest page from the UK seems to be the mirror in The Netherlands. If it's something older you're looking for, check the mirror. If it's the latest news or BIOS you want, check the site in Taiwan.
The Award flash utility, which you'll need to update your ABit BIOS, is included in it's own section at the end of this page. If you're not sure which version of BIOS you're running, check the last two characters in the BIOS ID string (bottom left of the screen when the PC boots) to find out.
If you're setting up a new PC with one of these boards, and you're installing Windows 95, you'll want to check out GWeb's Intel pages to grab the Intel INF Update Utility which will tell Windows 95 how to use the Intel chipsets the boards support.

BIOS and Driver Files for the BE6 and it's HPT366 controller

Here are the official BE6 BIOS files from ABit, and HighPoint's Windows 95 Drivers for the HPT366 UltraDMA/66 hard disk controller.
There are two steps to updating support for the HPT366 on the BE6 - the HPT366 BIOS and it's device driver. HighPoint are trying to keep the updates in sequence, so you'll often find device driver and BIOS updates with the same version number. The device driver updates are available below, and are installed according to the readme.txt file included.

To update the HPT366 BIOS, you need to flash the motherboard's BIOS with a version that has the appropriate HPT366 BIOS embedded. ABit's official BIOS releases aren't updated as new HPT366 BIOS versions become available - fortunately, other ABit users have created versions of the BE6 BIOS with the HPT366 BIOS revisions embedded. You'll find these in the table below.
