- Added the new Aureal A3D Interactive Drivers, version 2.08. This version is the first that includes an installer. The drivers are designed for all A3D-based products, and "are required for playing games that have been written to take advantage of A3D 2.0".
- Added the Unreal 224v patch. This patch has taken forever to get released, but I for one won't be installing it, since the release notes state that (a) there's no A3D 2.0 support - and the problem means A3D 1.0 support is unavailable, and (b) the PowerVR isn't supported in this version. Since these are the audio and video devices I use for Unreal, the patch will just have to sit in my Archives folder.
- Added the OEM Pre-Release Vortex 2 2030 drivers from Aureal. This is the first version to address the Screech of Death, CPU usage and 'loss of bass' problems, but Aureal advise that a retail version is in the works. A number of users have posted on the newsgroups that while the screeching has been addressed, it's been replaced by a GPF ... not good news. The word from Aureal is "Unless you are experiencing one of these issues, we recommend you wait for the retail release".
